Pitcher Plants (Nepenthes species)
Pitcher plants are something to talk about.  They are very interesting plants with a taste for meat.  These plants grow in areas that are low in plant nutrients.  As a result they developed special leaves that are shaped like a pitcher with a lid.  The lid opens and the pitcher is filled with liquid and fine hairs that help prevent bugs from getting out.  They have a sent that I have never smelled but is attractive to insects.  The insects enter the pitcher and end up in the liquid which is much like a mild stomach acid.  There they disolve and become food for the plant.
